Season 3 Episode 20

On this episode of Rebels, we finally saw Obi-Wan Kenobi on the show, and we see the duel, Darth Maul vs Obi-Wan Kenobi.Spoilers, spoilers, spoilers ahead for the episode, let's recap.

In the episode, Ezra finds his Holocron sending out the Obi-Wan message from the first episode. The Holocron then turns red.Ezra thinks that Maul is going to find Obi-Wan and kill him.Ezra tells the rest of the crew who think that the Holocron is playing up, Kanan tells Ezra that the Holocron may be a set up from Maul.

Sticking with his instincts, Ezra steals a ship from the rebel base a flies to Tatooine.Chopper sneaks onboard and Ezra is kind of mad.Using the Holocron for direction, the pair land and Ezra finds a red glow, it is the sith Holocron. Then Ezra and Chopper are ambushed by sand people, who blow up their ship.Ezra and Chopper run away and Maul comes in and kills the sand people.

Ezra and Chopper continue through the desert, Ezra sees Maul in the distance but it is just his imagination.Ezra and Chopper walk through a sandstorm and Ezra again sees Maul in the distance but it his imagination.Out of the sandstorm Ezra and Chopper tired continue walking, but then Chopper shuts down.Ezra gets on his knees, feeling sorry for what he has put his droid through.Ezra sees Maul and Ezra pulls out his saber and tries to strike down Maul, but yet it is his imagination.Ezra falls flat on his face, we then see a man in a hooded figure show up.

We fade to Ezra waking up, he sees Chopper being recharged, a beast with a saddle, and the man in the hooded figure sitting next to a fire, and that man is Obi-Wan.Ezra tells Obi-Wan about Maul, and he knows, Obi-Wan tells Ezra that Maul was tricking Ezra, trying to draw him out, using Ezra's mindset of helping people against him.

Maul shows up to the campfire, Obi-Wan tells Ezra and Chopper to leave, they do on the beast.Obi-Wan tells Maul that he doesn't want a fight, Maul senses that Obi-Wan has a purpose on Tatooine, to protect someone.Maul pulls ou his saber and Obi-Wan pulls out his.In two swift hits from Obi-Wan, Maul's lightsaber is cut in half, and maul collapses.Obi-Wan picks him up in his hands and Maul asks Obi-Wan if he is protecting the chosen one, Obi-Wan replies yes, and Maul says "he can avenge us"." then Maul dies.

We see Ezra and Chopper arrive back at the rebel base on maul's ship. The team asks Ezra if Maul is dead, he tells them yes.Ezra then apologizes to his crew and they all forgive him and know that he was only trying the protect someone.

The final scene of the episode is of Obi-Wan on riding his beast in the sunset of Tatooine where he hears a woman call out 'Luke, Luke" and then we see a silhouette of a child running towards a moisture farm.

There were so many great scenes in the episode.I liked the ending, technically Luke appeared in Rebels. But seeing Luke far out in the distance with the sunset, it was great. It felt like a new hope was right around the corner. It was also a pay off seeing Maul's story come full circle, from every fight Obi-Wan and Maul have had, this fight ended it all, their shortest fight.

The voice acting in this episode was great, Steven Stanton as Alec Guinness Obi-Wan was so spot on.The direction of the character was great, it felt like the Obi-Wan we saw in a new hope, and it was great seeing him appear on the show.
Sam Witwer, the voice of Darth Maul, it was great seeing his story come full circle, the duel was short, but it didn't need to be dragged out, these two know each other and it was great seeing Maul get a death well deserved and knowing that when Luke redeems Vader who kills Palpatine, Maul got his vengeance.

Overall this episode of rebels was really well done.A great job from the cast.I liked seeing the story of Maul come full circle, I will give this episode a 10 out of 10.I am glad that Rebels is getting another season, it might do a time jump, who knows.Comment below your thoughts on the episode. As always thanks for reading, take care.
