Chapter 13:

Hey everyone, Riverdale season finale, wow, this is an insane way to end the season. But spoilers ahead for last week's episode where the murderer of Jadon was revealed and spoilers for this week's episode, so let's recap.

The episode starts off with Jughead and Alice doing narration while writing papers. We learn that the Blossom maple syrup business was the cover of the Blossom's doing drug deals. We catch up with all our heroes, Archie talks to Fred about what Riverdale has become. At the Cooper household, everyone is home, Alice, Hal, Polly, and Betty. Betty is thinking that it is kind of strange after everything that has happened, it reverts back to normal.
At school Betty and Archie are called into the principles office by the Mayor, who tells them that they are to be hosting the Riverdale 75th anniversary, as they are heroic students, they ask if Jughead, a part of the Riverdale community can do it with them, the Mayor says no with the situation with his father. At lunch Archie and Betty tell Jughead what happened, Veronica tells Betty that Archie and she have been hooking up, and Betty is okay with it, as she is with Jughead.

Meanwhile, Hermione offers Fred some money to get out of the contract with Hiram, as when Hiram comes home, Fred is going to be in a dangerous place. Archie has a talk with Josie, and he asks if they can perform one of his songs at the Riverdale 75th celebration, but she says no as his song is only specific to his friends.
At the newspaper publishing business, Betty shows her parents an article she wrote on FP being innocent, Hal and Alice tell Betty not to publish it as people will hate on her for it. Betty does online, as she believes that the news is supposed to be truthful, and fair.
Veronica talks to Cheryl, who leaves Veronica in charge with the leadership of the Riverdale cheerleading squad, the River Vixens.
Later on, Fred tells Archie and Jughead that Jughead has been found a foster home on the south side, which means he has the transfer schools. Archie goes to talk to FP in his cell about what is happening to Jughead. FP tells Archie that as his friends, Jughead will try to push them away, but they need to stay close to him and let him drift away.

The next day at school, which is Polly's first day backJugheaded and Veronica are having lunch together, and Cheryl shows up and gives Jughead her spider thing for beating him up. Kevin and Archie run in and tell Veronica and Jughead to come with them. The crew runs to betty's locker where it is stitched up in newspaper's of her FP is innocent article, and in red it says "GO TO HELL SERPENT SLUT!" and there is a blond doll hanging from it. Jughead turns Betty away from the mess, and he tells her to ignore it. The two go for a stroll in the snowy park, Jughead tells Betty about his transfer to the Southside and he doesn't want that to change their relationship.

At the Lodge household, Hermione tells Veronica if she can persuade Archie into getting his dad to leave the deal, but Veronica says no. At the Cooper house, Polly told Alice about the message, Alice and Betty have an argument, and Betty brings up what FP mentioned what happened, which was the fight after the homecoming for Alice and Hal. The next morning, Alice walks into Betty's room and tells her that some secrets you want to hide from yourself, Alice tells Betty that she was pregnant when she had her homecoming, Alice says that Hal took her to the sisters, where Polly went, and Alice gave birth to a boy, who was adopted out.

At school, Betty tells Archie and Veronica about her long lost brother, and then she gets a call from Jughead, who is at Riverdale Southside high. Archie, Betty, and veronica decide to leave to get Jughead out of the school. They get to the school and find Jughead sitting down and laughing with a bunch of kids. Outside, Betty and Jughead talk and Jughead says that maybe it is better if he stays here, as no one will attack Betty, and Jughead can fit in more. Veronica gets a text from Cheryl which says [paraphrasing] "I'm going to be with Jason now."  The crew rushes to sweet water river and they see Cheryl standing on top of the frozen river. After trying to talk her back to the shore, she falls in and the team runs for her, trying to save her. Archie starts punching at the ice, with his hand bleeding, and he breaks through the ice and saves Cheryl after CPR.

Cheryl goes to Veronica's place to warm up. Meanwhile, Betty is getting ready for her speech at the anniversary. At school, the Pussycats invite broken hand Archie to lead them in a performance, with his song. Up on stage, Archie, Josie, Valerie, Melody, and Veronica perform Archie's song. During the song, Jughead talks to his father, FP in prison, he tells him about his South-side transfer, and FP tells him to not loose himself. After the great performance, Betty does her speech, she talks about the people of Riverdale, Kevin, Archie, Veronica, and Jughead walks in and she mentions Jughead. She goes on to talk about that the town is at a crossroad, and they need to take action, in doing what is right, like not vanishing jughead to the south-side as his father was wrongly convicted of a murder. Betty gets a great loud applause for her speech.

After the celebration, Fred tells Hermione that he is not going to give up on the contract, so he is going to be partners with her. Betty, Jughead, Archie, and Veronica go have milkshakes at Pops.
After an episode of being shut down by her mother, Cheryl tells her mother that the only way to restart is to tear everything down, and Cheryl throws a candle on the ground of her house, setting it ablaze.

Archie and Veronica hook up, with Archie staying the night at Veronica's house, and Jughead and Betty go to FP's unused house and get it on. There is a knock on the door, ad Betty thinks it is her mother. So they get dressed, and Jughead opens the door. It is some South-sider serpents who tell Jughead that they have his back as FP didn't rat them out in prison. They give Jughead his father's serpent jacket, which Jughead wears, and Betty sees and is ashamed.

The next morning, Archie meet his father, Fred at pops. Archie goes to wash his hands and he comes out to see that Pop's is being robbed by a man with a gun. Fred shakes his head at Archie, and we see Fred step up, and the robber shoots. We see Archie dive. We cut to outside Pops with narration from Jughead saying that this is the point where Riverdale truly changed. We see Archie holding his father on the floor, who has a gun wound in his stomach.

The biggest scene in the episode was the ending. A robbery at Pop's diner leaves Fred getting shot and Archie attends to him. I saw something like this happening, but I wasn't sure whether that it would happen. This scene was insane, so many questions were opened like was the shooter hired by Hiram, is it Betty's lost brother? Who knows. But the question which everyone is asking is if Fred lives. I would say, well it could go either way, there is a lot of story material with Hiram which Fred should be a part of. But Fred could die as he has been a great parental figure and he has taught Archie lessons which could seat his philosophy of situations in the future, which Fred could live on through Archie.

I am interested in what is going on with the missing, adopted out Cooper child. I feel like he will play out into a bigger plot line next season, or after that, as that is potential main season villain material right there, a villain with a motive, and a connection to our heroes. I am also curious with Jughead in the next season, will he go full serpent on us, I don't think so, but he will honor his father, who seems like he will go to prison for 20 years or so.

Did you know that in the breaking the ice scene with Cheryl, KJ Apa broke his hand in real life doing the stunt. That's comment. I was impressed with all the performances of the characters, so let's credit them, KJ Apa, as Archie Andrews, Lilli Reinhart as Betty Cooper, Cole Sprouse as Jughead Jones, Camila Mendes as Veronica Lodge, Madelaine Petsch as Cheryl Blossom, Cassey Cott as Kevin Keller, Mรคdchen Amick as Alice Cooper, Lochlyn Munro as Hal Cooper, Tiera Skovbye as Polly Cooper, Haley Law as Valerie Brown, Ashleigh Murray as Josie McCoy, Asha Bromfield as Melody Valentine, Nathalie Boltt as Penelope Blossom, Marisol Nichols as Hermione Lodge, Skeet Ulrich as FP Jones, Alvin Sanders as Pops, and Luke Perry as Fred Andrews.

Overall, this episode of Riverdale was a great way to end the season, with the unconcluded fate of Fred and the opening of so many questions and character directions for the next season. I will give this episode a 9 out of 10.I would really like to hear your thoughts on the episode down below. In the next few days I will make Riverdale season 2 predictions, so subscribe for that. As always thanks for reading, take care.
