Season 2 Episode 19:

In this episode of Supergirl, we see the crew get put under a tough dilemma to deal with, so spoilers ahead for the episode, let's recap.

After an awkward dinner with Kara and Maggie fighting over how to handle a hostage situation which happened, Alex goes to see Kara check up on her. The next day, Maggie asks Kara if she saw Alex, but Kara said she hadn't. Kara gets a phone call from an anomaly person, they tell her that they know Kara's identity as Supergirl, and they have captured Alex and the only way to release her is for Kara to break free prisoner, Peter Thompson, and Alex only has 24 hours left to live.

Back at the DEO, everyone is tasked with finding Alex, the team starts speculating on who has captured Alex. John, Maggie, and Kara to visit Peter in prison and they find out that he has no idea what is going on. Later on, Winn does some investigating and he finds the identity of Alex's captor, is Peter's son who doesn't have his last name, which is why it was difficult to find him.

Kara manages to find Peter's son, Rick Malverne in a house and he has a live camera feed of Alex. He opens up the microphone for Kara to speak to Alex, and Alex tells Kara not to give Rick anything.Kara takes Rick into the DEO where Maggie and Kara interrogate him.Rick reveals how he managed to find out that Kara is Supergirl in a flashback. John tries to read Rick's mind but doesn't manage to. Peter walks into the room and Rick has a reunion with his father, he realizes that it is not his father trying to sway him to give up where Alex is, but it is Martian Manhunter in disguise.

Back with Alex, she manages to break a camera and use her tracking chip, from her arm to send out a signal. Winn picks it up and notifies Kara. Kara flies to a warehouse, only to find it empty, she finds a case on the ground and opens it, only to find out that the timer for the last couple hours of Alex's life goes off, and a camera feed of Alex's enclosure show it filling up with water.

Back at the DEO Kara manages to make Peter put on a video and audio feed of Alex in her enclosure. Maggie has a private conversation with Alex, and she cries. Determined to get back Alex, Maggie decides to Peter out of prison. Kara follows Maggie and she manages to get Peter to remember a place where his son would keep Alex. He gives Maggie and Kara a location which they pursue. Kara manages to break the filled with water enclosure and she saves Alex, right before she drowns.
Back at the DEO, Alex has recovered and they decide to mindwipe Rick Malverne.

Happening simultaneously in the episode was Rhea trying to give Lena some technology, the portal. Lena finds out that Rhea is an alien, and Lena feels like Rhea lied to her. Lena calls up Kara and asks for some advice, which Kara is busy trying to find Alex in all this. Lena decides to team up with Rhea to use her technology for L Corp.

I really enjoyed the villain of the episode, intrestingRick Malverne played by David Hoflin was a great antagonist. His motives were interesting, and it is nice having a villain that doesn't necessarily want revenge from Supergirl, but he wanted something from her.
I did enjoy seeing Supergirl get short ended, it was fun seeing that, but it could have been played out with a little more. But I did like the dynamic between Melissa Benoist as Supergirl, and Floriana Lima as Maggie interesting seeing how someone with powers deals with a situation, and how a non-powered police officer deals with problems another way.

Overall, the episode was a good one, I felt like it could have been better, but the episode we got, I enjoyed. Even though the episode was titled 'Alex' and there wasn't much of her in the episode, the story we got focused on the people she loves and how they react without her, which was an interesting theme. I will give the episode Alex an 8 out of 10. I would like to hear your thoughts on the episode down in the comments below. As always thanks for, take care
