6 NEW MARVEL FOX FILMS ANNOUNCED
I mean that's a lot of movies, next yet alone Fox is putting out Deadpool 2, Xmen: the Dark Phoenix, and New Mutants. But I guess let's speculate on what these films are, as I will talk about the whole comic book film industry in terms of what is going on.
So six films is a lot, there a bunch of films I would like to see. And here are the release dates for all of them:
- June 7, 2019
- November 22, 2019
- March 13, 2020
- June 26, 2020
- October 2, 2020
- March 5, 2021
But let's list the films we are most likely to get, which will be in no specific order of release.
The Gambit character was rumored to have a solo film that was to come out last year, but stuff happened with Channing Tatum who was supposed to play the character. Fox may have worked something out and is starting production on the film.
X-Force would be an extension of the X-Force being developed in Deadpool 2, with that cast, an R-rated team up film with Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds), Cable (Josh Brolin), Domino (Zazie Beetz) and other characters like Psylocke (Olvia Munn) and X-23 (Dafne Keen) would be cool to see in it.
We're getting a trilogy of the merc with a mouth. Ryan Reynolds is great as Deadpool who definitely deserves a trilogy for his way in shaping the superheroes genre and seemingly saving 20th Century Fox.
So continuing the 10 year skip trend, I would see another possible X-Men film set in 2003, with having the newer mutants be the central focus such as Cyclops (Tye Sheridan), Jean Grey (Sophie Turner), Storm (Alexandra Shipp), and Nightcrawler (Kodi Smitt-McPhee), going up against classic villains such as the Juggernaut for example. The only problem with this is would the older cast come back, James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender, Evan Peters and Nicholas Hoult.
Yeah, I covered this a week or two ago, but really. Fox would do well without these guys who have just ultimately been an unprofitable property for them, so the first family needs to go back to Marvel Studios. With Fox having to make a Fantastic Four film every 7 years to app the right reverting back to Marvel Studios, we will definitely get another Fantastic Four film.
A property which hasn't been searched through a whole lot is Silver Surfer. We saw the character in the second Fantastic Four in 2009, but other than that he has been nowhere. It would be really neat to see a Silver Surfer film with possible Galactus ties.
So those are my predictions on the films. I thought about adding an X-23 film to the list, but the character, Laura could appear in an XForce film later down the line, and I wouldn't be supposed if we saw Dafne Keen coming back, as it would add diversity to the group. But X-23 seems like a character that can pull the X-Men franchise forward.
So all that aside, the six films. That is way too many films, this is all in 3 years or so. From 2018 to 2021 we are getting over 20 comic book films! This is where the idea of the superhero fatigue comes to play, too many films for an audience who can't digest this much.
But some of these films may not be developed, so the 20+ films will probably decrease. Which is a problem as studios announce plenty of films, but they give a release date to them before production begins.
Anyway, comment below your thoughts on the number of films that Fox is making, some of which may be announced at Comic Con. As always thanks for reading, take care.
